WHO WE ARE
Pack 26 is primarily made up of boys ages 6 - 10 from Kirby's Mill and Allen Schools in Medford, NJ. While our recruiting is focused on these schools, attending these schools is not a requirement to join our Pack. Our charter organization is Medford United Methodist Church. We welcome new members, and if your son is interested and/or you have questions about our Cub Scout program, please contact us.
WHEN WE MEET
We hold monthly Pack meetings, generally the 1st Friday of each month. Pack meetings are when all of the Scouts and their families come together to recognize what the boys have accomplished during the past month (both activities and achievements), to enjoy games, skits and presentations, and to get information about upcoming events.
The pack is broken up into one or more Dens per age group. Depending on when your son becomes a Cub Scout, he will advance through the Tiger Cub, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos 1 & 2 ranks. Each Den meets once or twice a month to work on achievements, and participate in games and other activities.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
Throughout the year, the Pack and the Dens plan a variety of events for the Scouts (and in many cases their families) to enjoy. These include visits to museums, attending sporting events and overnight camping trips. Closer to home, we participate in local community service projects, enter a float in the Medford Halloween Parade, and we host a Pinewood Derby at a Pack meeting in the spring. This is one of the highlights of the year - when your son (with varying degrees of help) builds his own pinewood race car to race against other Scouts in the pack. Everyone comes home a winner in this event! We also participate in our annual Popcorn fundraiser each fall. If you haven't purchased Popcorn from a Cub Scout, you're missing out!
HOW WE RUN
Pack 26 is run entirely by volunteers - Cub Scout Parents who pitch in at varying levels to help keep the program going. There are lots of opportunities for parents to help out. Whether you want to coordinate or just help out with a single event, or you have an interest in becoming a uniformed leader or assistant - your opportunity awaits. Presenting new ideas to the Pack or your Den is welcome as well. Volunteering can add another dimension to the Cub Scout experience for you and your son. For more information, please contact us.
ADVANCEMENT
By participating in Pack and Den meetings, activities and events, not only is your son having fun and learning new things, but he's working toward advancement. Advancement through the Cub Scout program is truly a team effort. The Dens work hard all year to help the boys complete all the requirements for advancement to their next rank. Quite often, our Pack activities satisfy at least part of an achievement requirement. There are also requirements that are satisfied by working with your son 1 on 1, or by doing certain activities as a family. It all pays off when the boys receive their awards at the Pack meeting in front of their families, their leaders, and their peers.
